Wonderful gardens on the lakeshore
Ancient noble villas set on one of the most beloved lakes in the world, with enchanting gardens
Ancient noble villas located on the lakeshore of one of the most beloved lakes in the world, surrounded by lovely gardens.
Bellagio, the pearl of lake Como, has been one of the most exclusive, elegant and aristocratic holiday destinations in Italy since the nineteenth century. The fame of the small lakeside village, brought to the apex by Francesco Melzi d’Eril, went beyond the borders of the Lombard-Veneto Kingdom and some of the protagonists of the European history of the nineteenth century such as Napoleon, Emperor Maximilian I, and Emperor Francis I of Austria stayed here, up to the great musician Franz Liszt.
The villas of Bellagio and the surrounding area, almost all in neoclassical style, are adorned with gardens designed by the best Italian architects and landscape architects and are an extraordinary example of harmony with the landscape. Flowers and trees from all over the world find a favourable climatic condition here and enrich the shores of the lake with colours of extraordinary liveliness, in contrast with the blue of the lake and the green of the surrounding mountains. Every small detail of these gardens has been studied thoroughly and nothing is left to chance, the view of the lake is possible from every angle, numerous statutes enrich the gardens and create a sort of cultural path within the naturalistic path, caves with exposed stone contrast with the opening of the surrounding environment and help to create the atmosphere of the nineteenth-century garden.
In Bellagio open to the public are the gardens of Villa Melzi and the park of Villa Serbelloni, furthermore Bellagio is an ideal starting point to reach by boat other beautiful villas on the lake and other attractions in the surrounding area
