A daytrip to discover Pigra
Everything in one day…boat, cable car and a short walk to admire the lake and the mountains in a unique way!
We take a boat from Bellagio to Argegno, a small town on the West coast of the Como branch of the lake. Between Argegno and Nesso, on the opposite side, the lake reaches its deepest point (410mt-1350ft). After a visit in the historic centre of Argegno, we move to the church square. On the left of the Church of S.S. Trinità, we take the stairs taking to the main road and we follow the signs to the cable car, which we find after 200mt on the left. The service works all year long with rides every 30 minutes (€4,50 for a return ticket for adults, discounts for children and groups). In 5 minutes, the cable car, with an average gradient of71% and a max. gradient f 95,72%, takes us to Pigra, a small village at a height of 881mt above sea level. Already from the cable car station, you enjoy a wonderful view on the lake and the surrounding mountains, among them the Palanzone. We explore now the little streets of the centre, following the several information boards about local history and traditions. At the park next to the sports centre, we can have a break and enjoy a picnic with a view on the stunning scenery. To admire a breathtaking view, we can follow path n.4, which in 15 minutes (600mt-1970ft) leads to the Belvedere. From here, you can see the Intelvi Valley, the Como branch of the lake, Mount San Primo, the central part of the lake (Bellagio, Varenna, Punta Balbianello, Isola Comacina) and several mountains (Grigne, Pizzo dei Tre Signori and Legnone).
