Nature and culture in quiete winter days
In winter, the beautiful landscapes of the lake are tinged with soft colours and there is an unimaginable peace for those who are used to visit these areas during the summer. Slow rhythms that allow you to appreciate the lake and its magnificent villas, even by water. The ferry and hydrofoil service is in fact active throughout the winter and connects Como with the main villages on tha lake. In addition to the picturesque villages on the shores of the lake, we can visit two villas that are open during the winter, the Villa Balbianello, property of the FAI, in Lenno and the Villa Monastero, in Varenna.
VILLA DEL BALBIANELLO
Villa Balbianello stands on the Lavedo peninsula and is one of the most scenic residences of the Lake Como due to its enchanting gardens, the refined villa and the lake view. The house is a jewel that contains the memorabilia of the adventures of its last owner, Guido Monzino. Open up til January 6th
INFOVILLA MONASTERO
Villa Monastero in Varenna is another unmissable stop on the Lecco branch OF Lake Como. It offers a splendid botanical garden that stretches for almost two kilometers from Varenna to Fiumelatte with a rich variety of plants from all over the world. From here you will enjoy a priceless view of the central part of the lake. You can also visit the Casa Museo, which, in the course of its history, has hosted many prominent person of the Italian and European cultural scene. The elegant furnishings and refined decorations will let you down in a magical atmosphere. Villa Monastero, in the winter months, is only open on some days
