Sans Mandala: the Tibetan monks of Sera Jey at Villa Melzi d'Eril |
June 28th - July 1st from 10.30am to 7pm
The Tibetan monks from the Sera Jey monastery in India will be hosted at Villa Melzi d’Eril in Bellagio for an extraordinary initiative. In fact, visitors to the gardens of the villa will have the opportunity to witness the creation, over the course of four days, of a sand mandala, according to an ancient Buddhist tradition.
The initiative is part of the activities promoted by the Ghe Pel Lin Center for Tibetan Studies Milan to raise funds for the maintenance of lodging and prayer facilities of the monastery and for the daily sustenance of the monks.
Every morning at 10.30am it will be possible to attend the blessing ceremony performed by the monks.
Subsequently, during the day, it will be possible to follow the monks in the execution of the mandala Tara Cittamani.
The final ceremony with the dispersion of the mandala will take place on Saturday 1 July at 6pm.
A part of the blessed sand of the mandala will be distributed among the participants, while the rest will be dissolved in the lake.
