Sans Mandala: the Tibetan monks of Sera Jey at Villa Melzi d'Eril

May 23rd - May 26th from 10.00am to 6pm

THE SAND MANDALA

Tibetan monks from Sera Jey Monastery in India will be hosted at Villa Melzi d’Eril in Bellagio for an extraordinary initiative. Visitors to the villa’s gardens will have the rare opportunity to see a sand mandala made over the course of four days, according to an ancient Buddhist tradition.
The initiative is part of the activities promoted by the Centre for Tibetan Studies Ghe Pel Ling in Milan to raise funds for the maintenance of accommodation and prayer facilities of the monastery and for the daily sustenance of the monks.
Every morning at 10.30 am you can attend the blessing ceremony carried out by the monks.
Then, during the day, you can follow the monks in the execution of the mandala itself, Tara Cittamani. The complete realization will take four days.
Sunday May 26th at 4pm will take place the final ceremony with the dispersion of the mandala. A portion of the blessed sand of the mandala will be distributed among the participants, while the remaining part will be dissolved in the lake.
