- The Madonna Ghisallo Cycling Museum is open every day from the first Saturday in March to the first Sunday in November, from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
- The village of Civenna can be visited with a self-guided tour lasting about an hour and a half.
- Transport info: the Bellagio-Civenna-Asso bus line C36 to Magreglio, leaves Bellagio at 11 am (it does not operate on Sundays). From June to early September.
Description
Bellagio’s surroundings are filled with places waiting to be slowly discovered, with pleasant walks in close contact with nature. If you have a few days available, don’t miss the area above Bellagio, with Magreglio and Civenna. In particular, if your passion is cycling, don’t miss a visit to the Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum, considered a real “cycling pilgrimage” destination. The museum contains an exhibition that aims to enhance the value of cycling as a sport and all the professional figures that revolve around this discipline. Next to the museum, in Piazzale del Belvedere, stands the Sanctuary of Madonna del Ghisallo patron saint of cyclists. The jerseys of the greatest cycling champions are displayed inside the church.
The day continues in Civenna, a pretty village where you can admire unique views of the Lecco branch of the lake, perhaps from the colourful giant panoramic bench. Follow the directions of the short itinerary “Exploring the Municipality of Civenna di Bellagio” and enjoy the charm of the peaceful atmosphere in this place, as well as its ancient history. For lovers of outdoor activities, Civenna is also an excellent starting point for trekking and cycling tourism, thanks to the rich network of trekking trails and mountain bike paths.
